How Long Does Duct Cleaning Take?

The time for duct cleaning depends on the size of your home, how many furnaces and vents you have. Expect 2-3 hours for your duct cleaning to be completed.

What Is The Process To Clean My Ducts?

Duct cleaning is a step by step process that starts by hooking up a large and powerful vacuum to your furnace. This requires a small hole in your venting that will pull all the dust and debris down through your vents. If you have had duct cleaning completed in the past, likely, the hole in your venting will be reused. Once this stage is complete, vents that are not being cleaned will be blocked off to create the most suction power in the vent that is being cleaned. From there a powerful high pressure hose, known as a snake is fed through your vents to break up debris and dust down towards the vacuum. This process is repeated until all vents are cleaned including your cold air return and dryer vents. If you have multiple furnaces, the process will be replicated with your second furnace. If you’d like more information about the process contact our team today.

Are All Furnaces The Same?

The short answer is NO. Although furnaces are similarly built, just like cars each brand and model has varying quality of build and parts. This means each brand offers varying warranty and expected lifecycle. Almost all modern day furnaces are considered high efficiency. This usually means >90% efficiency, meaning less than 10% of the energy is lost in the heating of your home. Furnaces that are 15+ years old usually are 80-85% efficient or lower. This means a serious upgrade to your home’s energy bills with a new furnace. There are 3 main types of furnaces: Single stage, two stage and modulating furnaces. Single stage This type of furnace is the least efficient of the three and only has two modes. On or Off. This can lead to cold spots in your home and overall lower comfort levels.
